Terms of Service
Last updated: 1 September 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Dosh website, the Dosh app, and the earned wage access service (together, the "Service") provided by Phynance (Pty) Ltd, trading as Dosh ("Dosh", "we", "us", or "our"). By registering for or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. About the Dosh Service
Dosh gives you access to a portion of the wages you have already earned during your current pay cycle, before your official payday. This is called earned wage access.
An advance through Dosh is not a loan. You are only ever accessing money you have already earned for work you have already done — not borrowing against future, unearned income. There is no interest, no compounding, and no credit check involved in using the Service.
2. Eligibility
To use Dosh, you must:
- Be employed by a company that has partnered with Dosh and integrated payroll access;
- Be at least 18 years old and hold a valid South African ID number;
- Hold an active South African bank account in your own name; and
- Successfully complete our identity and FICA verification process.
3. Your Account & PIN Security
You are responsible for keeping your ID number and PIN confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. Dosh will never ask you to share your PIN with anyone, including our own staff.
4. How Advances Work
The amount available to you accrues day by day across your pay cycle as you work, up to a maximum of 25% of your monthly salary. The exact amount available to you at any time depends on how many working days have passed since your last payday, and is confirmed in the app before you request an advance.
Unless your employer has configured a different limit, you may request one advance per week, subject to the amount you've earned being available.
5. Fees
Dosh charges a flat 10% transaction fee on the amount you request. For example, requesting R500 means R550 is deducted from your pay on payday. This fee does not compound and there is no additional interest charged, regardless of how far payday is.
6. Your Employer's Role
Your access to Dosh depends on your employer's ongoing partnership with us and their payroll integration remaining active. If your employment ends, or your employer discontinues their partnership with Dosh, your access to the Service will end and any outstanding amount will be recovered from your final pay in accordance with applicable law.
7. Repayment
The amount you accessed, plus the transaction fee, is deducted from your normal pay on your next payday through your employer's payroll process, and itemised on your payslip. You don't need to take any separate action to repay an advance.
8. Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
- Provide false or misleading information when registering or verifying your account;
- Attempt to access another person's account or wage information;
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose; or
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its security, or its infrastructure.
9. Intellectual Property
The Dosh name, logo, website, and app are the property of Phynance (Pty) Ltd and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without our prior written consent.
10. Limitation of Liability
Dosh provides the Service on an "as is" basis and takes reasonable steps to keep it accurate and available. To the extent permitted by law, Dosh will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, or from delays or errors in payroll data provided to us by your employer.
11. Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you've breached these Terms, provided false information, or used the Service fraudulently. You may stop using the Service at any time.
12. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will first be addressed through our customer support team, and if unresolved, referred to the appropriate South African courts or, where applicable, an accredited alternative dispute resolution body.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date, and material changes will be communicated to you through the app or by email where practical.
